Dynamic Properties Comparison of 1D, 2D, and 3D Model for Concrete Box-Girder Bridge of 40-meter Span

Concrete box-girder structure is considered the thin-walled structure, undergoing deformation and forces, as well having structural rigidity in three dimensional directions. However, it’s commonly modeled 1D for sake of design practicality, which influences numerical result its dynamic properties when compared to both real time SHMS field test result. To see how far difference between 1D, 2D, 3D model concrete (frame), 2D (shell), (solid) element with MIDAS Civil 2019. Considering allowable deflection stress limited by code, analyzed linearly elastic material. The obtained from these 3 models were those test. These results indicate that natural frequency period are close slightly larger than test, indicating gives overestimate reality. Unlike model, accounted have uniform sectional along transversal direction model. This why seems higher subsequently yields research proves designers’ discretion advised if used practicality.
